Hi Faith Family,

I don’t know about you, but I’m so glad it’s finally spring. The warmth feels so good
after such a cold and snowy winter. As I was considering what to share, I was reminded that we will be
celebrating Easter this month.
This verse became my favorite verse for Easter many years ago. I always love reflecting on it and I just stand in awe of my Savior every time I read this short passage. “Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.” Matthew 27:51a

The purpose of this particular veil or curtain in the Old Testament temple was to partition off the section
known as the Holiest of Holies. It was the place where God’s earthly presence dwelled back then. The High Priest was the only one allowed to enter this area, and he did this only once a year to make atonement for the sins of Israel. It was a beautiful and very thick veil. History tells us it was possibly 60 feet long.

When Jesus cried out on the cross and lifted up His Spirit, this veil was immediately torn in two from top to bottom. This signified that the Old Testament Law had been fulfilled by Jesus’ death. Jesus became our High Priest. The Old Covenant had passed away and a New Covenant had been revealed. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, now all believers can enter into His presence.

GQ Commentary:
“In a sense, the veil was symbolic of Christ Himself as the only way to the Father (John 14:6). This is
indicated by the fact that the high priest had to enter the Holy of Holies through the veil. Now Christ is our superior High Priest, and as believers in His finished work, we partake of His better priesthood. We can now enter the Holy of Holies through Him. Hebrews 10:19-20 says, “We have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body.”

Amen! Thank You Jesus! Now isn’t that worth celebrating! What a gift we’ve been given!
